Cultural Consultancy

Handprints

17 Cultural Consultants from Manchester and Trafford have been trained to work alongside professionals, to act as a bridge between BME service users and professionals, to improve understanding and communication and ensure that professionals can work effectively with users of their service and that service users feel understood and can engage.

Just Psychology used Awards for All funding to run a pilot project, recruiting and training cultural consultants from unemployed or part-time employed local black and minority ethnic (BME) communities, including African, Asian, Caribbean and White European.

We launched the service with an event in February to celebrate the Cultural Consultants and to raise awareness of their services to local agencies including health, social care and education providers.
