National Lottery Funding

We're delighted to announce that we have been awarded National Lottery funding. The grant will be used for the provision of psychological services, advice and training for people who support and live within black and minority ethnic (BME) communities. The project aims to build the capacity and the infrastructure of our social enterprise.

Just Psychology, in partnership with Survivors Manchester, are looking to recruit Cultural Consultants from Chinese, Somali and Eastern European communities.

Just Psychology will be holding an open day for people who are interested in finding out more about the role of cultural consultants.

Cultural Consultancy Service Launched with Inspiring Event

Just Psychology held an exciting event last week to launch the new, unique Cultural Consultancy Service in Manchester.

Inspiring speeches from Ruth Passman, Councillor Mary Murphy, Dr Erinma Bell MBE and Carolyn Taylor-Score MBE helped to raise awareness of the value of cultural consultancy.

Professionals and staff attended from a wide range of services including social services, hospitals, mental health services, children’s social care, schools and charities.

Launch of Cultural Consultancy Service

Just Psychology has used Lottery funding to train people from African, Asian, Caribbean and White European communities in Manchester to work as Cultural Consultants.

Our Cultural Consultants act as a bridge between BME service users and professionals. They are trained to improve understanding and communication, so that the professionals can work effectively with users of their service, and service users feel understood.

Just Psychology secures Awards for All funding

Just Psychology is very pleased to announce that we have recently secured Awards for All funding!

We will use this to

  • recruit and train people from the local BME communities as 'Cultural Consultants'
  • support health and social care professionals in their interaction with members of minority communities
  • promote best practice
