Emcee Chekwas


Emcee Chekwas is a Forensic Psychologist and an Associate of Just Psychology CIC. He has sixteen years’ post qualification experience in psychology and psychotherapy practice, and specialist interest in assessments and treatment of minority ethnic group clients, particularly with heritage of Asian and African Caribbean communities.

He is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a full member of the Division of Forensic Psychology (DFP). He is also a member of the British Association for Behavioural Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) and has over ten years experience of practice in the adult and adolescent democratic living-learning therapeutic community approach to rehabilitation of offenders with mental health problems, sexualized behaviours, substance misuse and personality disorders.

Emcee also has ten years’ psychology expert witness practice and testimony experience in criminal, civil and family law cases. He is a certified expert witness and has received training in Family and Criminal Law Procedures from Bond Solon and Cardiff University Law School. He was elected to the Expert Witness Institute (EWI) in February 2013. He is also regularly instructed to carry out assessments in areas of risk of harm, domestic violence and abuse, personality disorders, sexualized behaviours and offending, affective and mood disorders, anger problems, substance misuse, attachment difficulties, self-harm as well as emotional management.

Emcee also holds a public appointment by the Cabinet Secretary for Justice (Scotland) as the Psychological Board Member to the Risk Management Authority (RMA). He holds appointments by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Education Partner-Visitor, a Lead Reviewer for the Community of Communities College Research Unit (CCRU) and most recently in July 2014was appointed to the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Ethics Committee membership.
